What A Mommy Sees

As a mommy looks down at a sleepy head
Snuggled up safe and secure in her bed
Blankey all wadded up in tiny fist
Curls on chubby cheeks that Mommy's just kissed...

What does she think the mommy of this one
As the day ends and the nighttime comes...
What does she see as she watches there
The precious little angel all covered with prayer...

What does a mommy see as she looks in the bed
And tousles the precious curls on that sleepy head?
How does she feel as she touches tiny fingers
And as over the crib she hovers and lingers?

What does a mommy think as she watches this child
All grown up and with radiant smile
Take strong confident steps to walk down the aisle...
Steps that turn her single life into that of a wife....

What does a mommy see as she watches with pride
The ceremony that transforms her child into bride?
Why a mommy sees the same thing that she sees tonight
Standing over your crib in the moonbeams so bright...

A mommy sees love all bundled up a blanket
And a million kisses and hugs through the years
Scenes of pure love and laughter
And joy so intense it brought tears.

A mommy 's heart is so special
And keeps track of each moment through the years
And sees love dressed in a bridal gown there at the altar
As her eyes are washed clean with her tears.

Today we watched you
As you walked down the aisle
Looking toward your beloved
With the most beautiful smile.

Today we go to the background
Of our precious daughter's life
As you begin your own family
And become someone's wife.

Today we stood and remembered
All the things that we have treasured
Through your wonderful childhood years.
Please don't blame us for shedding sentimental tears.

Someday you will understand
Why we shed tears on your happy day,
How while we watched our lovely bride
We still saw our baby girl at play.

We are so happy for you
On this your special day
You looked so radiantly beautiful
That you took our breath away!

May God bless and keep you
And add richness to the life
That you two have begun today
As husband and as wife!

There are things in my heart

For I found my prince charming
And he came from you.

Your love and your guidance
Your nurturing and grace

And the smile on his face.

As we plan our lives together

Precious as can be
Taking her first step
To come to me!

Two little feet
In dancing shoes
Dancing to her mommy
Chasing away my blues!

Two little feet
Splashing in a puddle
Running to her mommy
For a warming snuggle!

Two dainty feet
Dressing for a date
Wearing heels and nylons...
Don't be out late!

With feet dressed in satin
She walks down the aisle
Looking back at Mom
She gives me a loving smile.

Does she know that in my heart
These steps she takes today
Remind me of those precious steps
When she first walked my way?

Dressing for a date
Wearing the latest fashion...
Don't be out late!

In shoes all shined and bright
He watches his bride walk down the aisle
He gazes at her so lovingly
And I see his happy smile.

Together they walk down the aisle
And through the door as man and wife
Taking those first steps
Into their brand new life.

Does he know that in my heart
These steps he takes today
Remind me of those precious steps
When he first walked my way?

For a moment I held you
When you were born
And you nestled down
All snug in my arms

And life was dream like--
For a moment

For a moment you were a toddler
And you played on a trike
Soon you were learning
How to ride a real bike

And life was exhilarating
As I watched you learn--

Then you were a teenager
Aching to be free
We had long discussions
Just you and me

And sometimes we agreed
To disagree--
For a moment
Now we share a dance together
On this your wedding day
Soon you will join your lovely bride
And will whisk her away.

And soon you will be the head
Of a family of your own
And all of these memories
Will be replaced with special moments of your own.

All of these moments
So fleeting and fast
Came so lovingly
And then they were past

Oh God help us to notice and realize
How precious these moments
As each one flies by.

And give us a nudge
That we recognize each day
All those precious moments
That you send our way!
