Empty Chairs at Wedding

Mom's Chair

On this special day
I wanted to share my happiness
With the person so very dear
Who this day would really bless.

I know she must be looking down
From the Heavenlies up above us
Smiling at us one and all
And saying that she loves us.

But to represent her presence here
I put a rose upon her empty chair
To remind us all of her love
And as our way to share.

We love you, Mom
And ask that God above
Would bless us all today
Who witness evidence of His love.

Grandpa, You are Always in Our Hearts

Husband, father, and grandpa
Were only three special roles you led
As you tended to us as we grew up
And saw that we were sheltered, clothed and fed.

My best friend utterly adored you
And asked you to be at her side
On that special day of days
When she became a bride.

You were the world's best grandfather to ______
And I have photos here to show
Just how much you loved him
So that he will always know.

These photos are so precious
And these sweet memories will help get me through
As will each precious loving act you did on earth
That will remind me each day of you.

You Are More Than a Friend

You were more than a friend's grandfather
Which is special enough in itself
But you were like a grandfather to me
Never hesitating to give of yourself.
Your sweet spirit always filled the room
With a smile that never seemed to fade away
And your presence always delighted folk
Who would look forward to seeing you each day.

Kindness, strength, character and compassion-
These words to describe you were only the very start
Of the abundance of the wonderful things about you
That God had planted long ago in your loving heart.
I will miss you sweet friend of mine
More than words can ever tell
And far more than poet could ever see
But that I had you for my friend
I will give thanks to God, each day.

Without You Daddy

I walked down the aisle today
Thanking God that you had been in my life
Even though you were not here
To bless me with your love
As I became a wife.
Even though I could not see you
Your influence was everywhere
As I wrote the vows I would say
To choosing the gown I would wear.
Thank you Daddy for being you
And thank God for the dad He gave to me
Who taught me to live not only for the now
But for eternity.

Wedding Day without Mom

This was the day I wanted to share with you-
The day I had dreamed of for my entire life
This was the day I would happily become a wife.-
The day I dreamed of as a little girl
This was the day that would be a milestone in my world.
But this was the day that I never imagined would be
Without the mother who meant the world to me.
But surely in God’s plan for us
In Heavenly portals up above us
We can be glimpsed by those gone ahead
Who so dearly love us.

From God's Balcony

Do you think that from God's balcony
In Heaven up above
That mothers are allowed to view
The children that they love?

I like to think that everytime
A bride walks down the aisle
A mother who has gone ahead
Looks down at her and smiles.

I like to think she watches
As the couple says I do
And is filled with joy and happiness
When she sees a love that's true.

If God allows this miracle
Of hope and joy and love
Then you know that your mom will be watching
From Heavens portals up above.

But should this not be possible
I know this to be true
That God himself and all his angels
Are watching over you!

From God's Balcony

Do you think that from God's balcony
In Heaven up above
That fathers are allowed to view
The children that they love?

I like to think that everytime
A son does something grand
Or makes a winning touchdown
Or lends a helping hand.
His father is watching as his son becomes a man.

I like to think he watches
As the years go swiftly past
And will tell his son about it
When in Heaven they are reunited at last.

If God allows this miracle
Of hope and joy and love
Then you know that your father will be watching
From Heavens portals up above.

But should this not be possible
I know this to be true
That God himself and all his angels
Are watching over you!

From God's Balcony

Do you think that from God's balcony
In Heaven up above
That grandmothers are allowed to view
The grandchildren that they love?

I like to think that everytime
A little baby is born on earth
A grand mother who has gone ahead
Joins in the celebration of its birth.

I like to think she watches
Each day its whole life through
And is filled with joy and happiness
Over each wonderful thing you do.

If God allows this miracle
Of hope and joy and love
Then you know that your grandmom will be watching
From Heavens portals up above.

But should this not be possible
I know this to be true
That God himself and all his angels
Are watching over you!
